Croatia
The Republic of Croatia is a unitary democratic republic situated at the crossroads of Central Europe, the Balkans, and the Mediterranean. It borders Slovenia to the west, Bosnia and Herzegovina to the southeast, Serbia to the east and Hungary to the north. Croatia's Adriatic Sea coast is not limited only to the entire southwest of the country, but extends far beyond it, through the more than a thousand islands.Croatia is what many people would call "the best-kept secret of Eastern Europe", with one of Europe's most beautiful coastlines, and an intriguing mixture of architectural and cultural influences from the early Croat settlers, the Greek and Roman empires and later the Austro-Hungarian rulers.
Nowadays Croatia is known mostly for its coastline, but a visit of the Croatian cities and countryside is definitely worthwhile.
