Hungary

Hungary is a landlocked country situated in the Carpathian Basin (in central Europe) and is bordered by Slovakia to the north, Ukraine and Romania to the east, Serbia and Croatia to the south, Slovenia to the southwest and Austria to the west.
The countries' history goes back to circa 1000 BCE, when a large group of Finno-Ugric people, originating from somewhere in the Ural Mountains migrated west and settled in the region. Here, seven Magyar tribes are believed to have joined forces with three Kavar tribes to create the Onogur or "Ten Arrows" alliance, which is believed to be the origin of the word Hungary.
Hungarians speak a language unlike any other in the region, which is also the most widely spoken non-Indo-European language in Europe.

Large plains and lakes dominate the landscape of Hungary and it is famous in Europe for its wine regions, SPAs and the unique culture.
